Christopher Pullen

Director, Environmental, Social and Climate Risk
Our people

Christopher (Chris) Pullen is the Director, Environmental, Social and Climate Risk at FinDev Canada. His team leads the implementation of FinDev Canada’s Environmental and Social Risk Policy as well as the approach to assessing and managing climate risk, working closely with FinDev Canada's clients to support their ability to effectively identify and manage these risks. This team is also responsible for the ongoing evaluation of the environmental, social and climate policy landscape in the development finance sector and working with peer organizations on the implementation of best practice for managing environmental, social and climate risks.  

Prior to joining FinDev Canada in January 2024, Chris worked in the not-for-profit sector with Ducks Unlimited Canada, as the National Director of Sustainability, collaborating with conservation partners on biodiversity conservation and carbon market opportunities. Previously, Chris spent 14 years at Export Development Canada as part of the Environmental and Social Risk Management Team, including 4 years as the Director. As part of this team, Chris provided environmental and social risk advisory support across EDC’s portfolio including working on major infrastructure projects around the world. As Director, he led several policy initiatives, including the introduction of EDC’s Human Rights and Climate Policies, as well as working with industry peers through the Environmental Practitioners Group at the OECD and the Steering Committee of the Equator Principles. Chris also served as Director of EDC’s ESG Implementation team, responsible for the development of proactive approaches of integrating sustainability into business practices. Prior to his time at EDC, Chris spent 8 years as a consulting ecologist working on environmental impact assessments in the extractive and infrastructure sectors throughout Canada and started his career in the adventure tourism sector.

Chris has an M.Sc. in Fish Ecology and Conservation Physiology.
